February issue of New Steel Construction out now

The February issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.

Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC can find it at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story is the new Riverside Stand being built at Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage stadium. With little room to work onsite, the stand’s large roof trusses are being preassembled at Tilbury Docks and then floated upstream before being lifted into place.

The need for a quick construction programme and some long internal spans, meant structural steelwork was the chosen framing solution for the Barton Manor School in Canterbury.

Dublin’s former Clerys department store is being refurbished with a number of new steelwork areas complementing retained elements to form a new mixed-use development.

Meanwhile, in west London, the site of another former department store – Pontings of Kensington High Street – is being redeveloped into an economically-designed commercial and retail scheme.

Steel construction has come to the fore at London Southend Airport, where an extension to the terminal building’s baggage area has been successfully erected in the midst of a live and functioning airport.

NSC also features industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and Codes & Standards updates.
