Contractor named for Stoke Goods Yard scheme

Bowmer + Kirkland has been appointed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council and developer Capital & Centric to deliver the mixed-use Goods Yard project.

The £60M scheme is set to turn a former industrial site, adjacent the city’s main railway station, into a new neighbourhood, containing 174 homes, workspaces, bars, cafes and shops.

Preparatory works are expected to begin later this year with final completion of the project set for 2025.

Councillor Abi Brown, Leader of the City Council, said: “There’s a lot more to get developments started than people often realise, with huge commitment from everyone to get us to this point so quickly.

“The Goods Yard will transform a currently underused, canalside area into a vibrant place for living, working and having fun. The impact will be widespread with the creation of jobs and spaces for new businesses.”

Tim Heatley, Co-Founder of Capital & Centric, said: “Everyone is itching to see the project become reality, so this is a mega moment that paves the way for a new future for Stoke.”
