Contractor checks in for Essex hospital work

Morgan Sindall Construction has been appointed to undertake a number of new build and refurbishment projects as part of a comprehensive package of work across the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust sites.

Totalling £60M, the two main aspects of the package include a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Pitsea and the creation of the Southend Elective Surgical Hub.

The CDC is set to be delivered on the site of the Pitsea Leisure Centre, which will be demolished. The state-of-the-art community diagnostic facility will include MRI and CT scanning suites, X-ray machines, a pharmacy and consultation rooms, as well as a library and sports areas.

Morgan Sindall Construction Managing Director Peter Whitmore, said: “It is great to announce this latest raft of projects, which we will be delivering as part of the ProCure23 framework with the NHS across mid and south Essex.

“These improvements, across a number of healthcare facilities will bring a wide range of valuable health and wellbeing benefits to communities in Essex. This will range from helping to speed up diagnosis within local settings and supercharging Southend’s surgical capabilities.”
