Aston Villa to redevelop North Stand

Posted on by in News

Premier League side Aston Villa has announced plans to refurbish and expand its North Stand, increasing its stadium capacity to over 50,000.

As Villa Park will be one of the host venues for the UEFA EURO 2028 tournament, the construction work will be completed during 2027.

The club said it will adapt and reuse the existing North Stand structure for the expansion. This approach will ensure that the capacity of the ground will not decrease at any time during the work, mitigating disruption to fans.

Nassef Sawiris, Executive Chairman of Aston Villa FC, said: “A bigger and better North Stand will not only allow many more fans to see their team in person, it will dramatically improve the club’s ability to invest and compete in the long term.”

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, added: “Aston Villa is a vital part of our region’s identity and I’m proud to support the club’s ambitious plans.

“Their long-standing commitment to Aston and the wider community is clear – not just through this redevelopment, but through investment in community facilities and job creation.”
