The April issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available. It is a digital-only issue and readers can access it via the website: www.newsteelconstruction.com
This month’s cover story features a new leisure centre in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. Using a hybrid design of steelwork and glulam beams, the centre will include a 25m swimming pool, a learner pool, a sports hall and fitness gym.
Steelwork fabricated in North Yorkshire and transported across the English Channel, is creating the Les Ozouets sixth form campus on Guernsey. Two interlinked structures are being built; a teaching block and a specialist engineering and construction building.
Two steel transfer structures, spanning a Network Rail viaduct and Docklands Light Railway lines, are supporting a 14-storey mixed-use scheme near the Tower of London. Because of the location, much of the steelwork has been installed during a series of overnight, Sunday and public holiday rail possessions.
A central element of Earlestown’s redevelopment plans is the restoration of its Grade II listed Town Hall. Steel has been used to create a new café and kitchen extension, as well as new M&E openings in the existing building.
Associated British Ports is constructing the first phase of its HELM industrial and logistics park at Immingham. Said to be one of the most significant developments in the Humber region, the initial work includes three portal-framed warehouses, accommodating eight business units.
NSC also features industry news, as well as a technical paper and advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute.
