Work starts on Wigan town centre masterplan
Galliford Try’s Building North West division has signed a contract to begin the first construction phase of the Wigan Galleries shopping centre redevelopment.
The company’s initial programme will include basement enabling works and the construction of a new £39.4 million market hall.
The contract forms part of a £135 million masterplan, delivered in partnership with Cityheart, which will create a retail, leisure, commercial, and residential hub in Wigan town centre.
Later phases are set to include a six-screen cinema, a music and e-sports venue, a 10-lane bowling alley, an indoor mini-golf centre, food and drink outlets, a hotel, 464 new homes, and a landscaped public square.
Galliford Try Building North West Managing Director Darren Parker, said: “We are delighted to progress to the next phase of this landmark regeneration project.
