Posted on by in Weekly News

Forming part of the wider Redcar Town Deal, which aims to boost economic growth, Robertson Construction has started work on a new cultural and entertainment venue.

The scheme will deliver a modern, multi-purpose venue that will include a library, indoor leisure attractions, and improved connections between the town centre and seafront.

Complementing these facilities, a new outdoor events space will offer flexible area for community use, while encouraging greater footfall along the High Street.

Work commenced on site following the demolition of the former Marks & Spencer and Goodwins stores.

Neil Kennedy, Regional Managing Director, Roberston Construction North East, said: “We are glad to continue our strong relationship with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and aim to deliver a landmark development that represents a significant regeneration boost for the local economy.”

Chair of the Redcar Town Deal Catherine Clennett, said: “We are very excited to see works commence and are looking forward to seeing the project take shape.

“The aim is to provide an indoor family entertainment venue and an outdoor event space that will encourage people to walk from the beachfront and esplanade through to the town centre.”
