Work set to start on Trowbridge leisure centre
Wiltshire Council has confirmed that Pellikaan Construction will start work on the new leisure centre in Trowbridge in early April.
Designed by Roberts Limbrick Architects, the centre will be built on Wiltshire Council’s East Wing site.
In developing the leisure centre, Wiltshire Council has worked with Alliance Leisure, (the delivery partner for the UK Leisure Framework UKLF).
Metallic-looking cladding will feature on most of the building’s façades to reflect the industrial heritage of the town, and the roofs will be covered with solar panel arrangements to help achieve the scheme’s sustainability goals.
The completed leisure centre will feature a six-lane 25m swimming pool, a learner pool, a gym, two fitness studios, a spin studio, meeting room, a café, and facilities for children and older adults.
Councillor Ian Blair-Pilling, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Leisure and Public Health, commented: “Yet another milestone has been reached on this project, which has significant momentum – demonstration of our desire and passion to deliver this brand-new leisure centre for Trowbridge and the wider area.
“The location of our new leisure centre in Trowbridge will provide quality health, fitness and wellbeing facilities for our communities and help unlock wider work in the area to complement our overall vision for Trowbridge and enhance connectivity.”
