Walsall Council appoints contractor for town centre revamp

Posted on by in Weekly News

Having secured funding from the Future High Street Fund, Walsall Council has appointed Kier Construction to undertake a major revamp of the town centre.

Due to start this autumn, the contractor will renovate and remodel areas of Park Street, with work also including the demolition of some buildings to create a large open walkway between the bus station and the railway terminal.

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Acting Leader of Walsall Council, said “I’m pleased that we have Kier on board to deliver this major regeneration scheme for Walsall town centre.

“It’s important for us to make sure people have a good experience when they come to Walsall, and improving the aesthetics of the town will have a really positive impact. I look forward to seeing the transformation start to take shape next year.”

Mark Dady, Managing Director of Kier Construction Eastern & Midlands, said: “We are delighted to support Walsall Council’s vision to deliver major regeneration works. This venture will improve access to two key transport hubs and upgrade visitor experience, which will increase footfall and boost the local economy.

The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
