Speller Metcalfe starts redevelopment of Herefordshire school

West Midlands-based Speller Metcalfe has started work on the redevelopment of Hampton Dene Primary School in Tupsley, Hereford.

The £2.4 million project, led by Herefordshire Council, will enlarge the school’s Language and Communication Centre, which supports pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

In addition to the new buildings, the scheme also includes upgrades to the school’s parking and outdoor spaces.

Councillor Harry Bramer, Herefordshire Council Cabinet Member for Community Services and Assets, said: “I am delighted to see that work has started on site. This is another positive step forward for the school community as the redevelopment will provide modern, inclusive, and sustainable education facilities, which will help to give students the best start in school life.”

Matthew Bailey, Speller Metcalfe Divisional Director, added: “This redevelopment means a lot to the community and we’re proud to be delivering high-quality facilities that will support inclusive education for years to come.”

The project, procured through the Procure Partnerships Framework, is expected to complete in summer 2026.
