September issue of New Steel Construction out now

The September issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week. Readers of the digital version of NSC can access it at: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This issue’s cover story features the Cotswolds Designer Outlet in Tewkesbury. Opening next year, the outlet consists of 18 separate steel-framed buildings that will be sub-divided into 55 retail units.

The University of Hertfordshire’s largest-ever development, chose a steel-framed option because of the need for a quick construction programme. Known as Spectra, the building houses the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science.

NSC September also includes another educational project, this time in Bedford, where a new independent school is set to replace two existing schools in the town.

In Glasgow, shipbuilding is getting a major boost as a new ship hall is being erected at Govan. The large steel-framed facility will be big enough for two frigates to be constructed side-by-side.

The former Debenhams department store on London’s Oxford Street is being extensively remodelled into a flexible, nine-storey building. Adding to the scheme’s sustainability credentials, steelwork sourced from Electric Arc Furnace production facilities is being used.

NSC also features a Steel for Life Headline sponsor article from ArcelorMittal, industry news, a technical article and an advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
