RAF living quarters ready for take-off

Posted on by in Weekly News

Galliford Try’s Building East Midlands division has started work on four Single Living Accommodation (SLA) blocks at RAF Digby in Lincolnshire.

Built to house junior ranks, each three-storey building will contain 69 individual bedrooms, as well as kitchens, laundry facilities, drying rooms and communal spaces.

Aligning with the Ministry of Defence’s initiative to achieve net zero by 2050, the buildings will feature photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps, temperature-controlled heating zones, and energy-efficient LED lighting,

Shaun Purdy, Project Manager for Defence Infrastructure Organisation’s Major Programmes and Projects, said: “I am excited for construction to officially start on this important project to enhance the experience for our dedicated service personnel based at RAF Digby.

“This new scheme not only represents a significant step in modernising military accommodation, it also highlights our commitment to sustainability.”
