Plans in for new Derbyshire leisure centre

South Derbyshire District Council has revealed plans for a new leisure centre in Swadlincote.

Designed by CPMG Architects, the state-of-the-art building will replace the current Green Bank Leisure Centre, which will be demolished as part of the redevelopment of Swadlincote town centre once the new centre is open.

The two-storey development will feature leisure facilities on the ground floor and purpose-built, open-plan office space for the council on the first floor.

Councillor Robert Pearson, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said: “A project like this is complicated and there has been a huge amount of work going on in the background to get us to this stage.

“But of course, these key milestones in the programme are the most exciting, as we all get to take a sneak peek at what’s been happening, and the plans for this future new addition to our district.”
