November/December issue of New Steel Construction out now
The November/December issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats. Readers of the digital version of NSC can access it at: www.newsteelconstruction.com
Readers should make a note that from next year, NSC will be a digital-only publication, except four times a year (March, June, September and November/December), when a printed issue will also be available.
This issue’s cover story features the world’s largest monopile factory being constructed on Teesside. Requiring 35,000t of steel, the vast structure measures 800m-long and stands 40m-high.
In Wrexham, one of the town’s principal employers, Ipsen BioPharm, is building a new pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. A series of 6.3m-deep trusses create the facility’s required column-free production space.
Leeds Bradford Airport has begun a multi-million-pound regeneration programme, which includes a terminal extension as its first phase. Connecting to the eastern end of the existing terminal, the new structure is 120m-long x 41m-wide and reaches a maximum height of 15.5m at the apex of its peaked roof.
Sustainability is at the core of the design of Network W1, a nine-storey commercial project in London’s West End. Targeting a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, the scheme is aiming to achieve a better embodied carbon intensity than the Greater London Authority target.
Our fifth project feature reports on a steel framed school in Towcester, providing much-needed classrooms for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
NSC also features a Steel for Life Headline sponsor article from Barrett Steel, industry news, a technical article and an advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
