May issue of New Steel Construction out now
The May issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available. It is a digital-only issue and readers can access it via the website: www.newsteelconstruction.com
This month’s cover story is One Exchange Square; a 1980s-built office block in London, which is being transformed into a modern 13-storey building. Alongside the retention of 90% of the original structure, new steel floors and extensions have been added.
More than 4,000 new steel components have been installed during the restoration of Lymington harbour’s historic viaduct.
The iron-built structure carries a single railway line that connects to the Isle of Wight ferry terminal.
Tesco has moved into its new distribution centre at Panattoni Park Aylesford in Kent. Measuring more than 400m-long, the steel warehouse features three individual frames, housing freezer, chiller and ambient storage zones.
A world-class Search and Rescue Training Centre is being constructed at Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire. Once complete, the steel-framed centre will offer a safe environment for simulated offshore rescue missions.
Capable of processing up to 395,000 tonnes of waste to generate electricity, the Project Kelvin Energy-from-Waste facility in West Bromwich has required 5,200t of steelwork for its superstructure.
NSC also features industry news, a technical article, an advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute, and updated codes and standards.
