This month’s cover story is the Yeoman Park Academy in Mansfield, where a steel-framed solution was chosen for its flexibility. The ability to form an irregular and bespoke column grid pattern was also crucial to the school’s design.
Located on the south bank of the River Thames, EDGE London Bridge has plans to be one of the most sustainable office towers in the capital. A hybrid design, utilising large amounts of steelwork, is helping the project to achieve its aim.
Helping to ease a city-wide housing shortage, a former textile warehouse in Bradford is being converted into a residential block containing 77 apartments. Inside a retained façade, steelwork is being used to form the seven-storey structure.
Storage capacity at the Humber International Terminal at Immingham has been significantly increased with the opening of a new portal-framed warehouse. Featuring a single 45m-wide span, 400t of steelwork was needed for the project.
A total of 2,000t of steelwork was erected in under eight weeks to form Panattoni’s latest distribution centre in Nottinghamshire. Measuring 455m-long x 150m-wide, the structure consists of five 30m spans.
