June issue of New Steel Construction out now
The June issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available in both digital and print formats that will be arriving in the post this week.
Anyone who does not receive the print magazine and would like a free subscription (UK and Ireland only) should visit: www.steelconstruction.info while readers who prefer the digital offering of NSC, this is available at: www.newsteelconstruction.com
This issue’s cover story is One Leadenhall, a City of London commercial development that will top out at 35-storeys. Replacing a 1980s-built office block, the project requires 5,900t of structural steelwork.
Steelwork is also playing a leading role in the construction of the Bolton College of Medical Sciences. Due to open in 2024, the facility will train up to 3,000 students a year in a hospital environment.
The University of Oxford is building its largest project to date in order to create a world-class centre for life and mind sciences. The scheme includes a number of steel elements including an office block and a saw-tooth roof on an adjacent laboratory building.
The UK’s largest-ever speculative development is under construction in Avonmouth. Comprising two large distribution centres, the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ scheme needed 4,900t of steelwork.
In North Yorkshire, the UK’s first foam glass plant is under construction. Using recycled glass to produce a new lightweight building block, the facility comprises three inter-linked steel structures, one of which accommodates a large mezzanine that supports vital processing equipment.
NSC also features a Steel for Life Gold Sponsor article, industry news, a technical article and advisory desk from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
