July/August issue of New Steel Construction out now

Posted on by in Weekly News

The July/August issue of New Steel Construction (NSC) is now available. It is a digital-only issue and readers can access it via the website: www.newsteelconstruction.com

This month’s cover story is a large regeneration scheme in the South Wales town of Llanelli. Built on a former industrial site, Canolfan Pentre Awel accommodates a raft of amenities including leisure and sport facilities, community healthcare, and modern office and research spaces.

In the capital, two buildings that were once part of the historic Smithfield Market are being converted into a new home for the London Museum. Approximately 600t of new steelwork has been installed to form new exhibition spaces within the retained structures.

Also in London, NSC reports on the redevelopment of the former D.H Evans department store at 318 Oxford Street. Renamed Elephant, the reconfigured building accommodates retail units, restaurants and a gym on the lower floors, and offices on the upper seven levels.

Speed and ease of construction was the reason a steel-framed design was chosen for the Rosherville CE Academy Primary School in north Kent. Due to open in January 2026, the school will provide educational spaces for children residing in the new Cable Wharf housing development.

A steel portal-framed solution has provided the required long internal spans for photo printing specialist Max Spielmann’s new warehouse. The £8 million project is the latest facility to be built at the Bromborough International Business Park on the Wirral Peninsula.

NSC also features industry news, a technical article and an advisory desk note from the Steel Construction Institute, and codes and standards updates.
