Green light for Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre rebuild
Wychavon District Council has been granted planning consent for the redevelopment of Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre.
The scheme will include modernising and expanding the centre’s 25-year-old aquatics hall, with the addition of a new 8m x 12m learner pool.
The extended building will also include a new reception area, a café and a link between the learner pool and the existing changing facilities.
Mark Hudgeon, Divisional Director of Speller Metcalfe (who have been appointed as main contractor for the scheme), said: “We are proud to be working on a project that not only enhances vital local leisure provision, but also places sustainability and community at its heart.
“Through our collaborative approach with Alliance Leisure, we will ensure this facility reflects the needs of the local community.”
Councillor Dan Birch, Wychavon Executive Board Member for Wellbeing, Social Mobility and Transformation, said: “This scheme will deliver a much-improved experience for users and ensure Wychavon boasts some of the best leisure facilities in the area.”
