Gosport school gets major refurbishment

Posted on by in Weekly News

Kier has been appointed to redevelop the King’s Academy Bay House School in Gosport, providing students with a range of new facilities.

The scheme will see 6,862m2 of new teaching spaces constructed and over 4,000m2 of the existing school refurbished.

The new build elements will include science laboratories, art studios and music rooms.

Designed to be net carbon zero in operation, the school will benefit from a range of sustainable features such as air source heat pumps, solar panels, and passive ventilation; a design feature which helps keep the building at an optimum temperature without using energy.

Chris Willis, Head Teacher at King’s Academy Bay House, said: “This funding reflects a commitment to the learners of Gosport and will help us to secure excellence in education for generations to come. We look forward to creating a learning environment that inspires and empowers every student to achieve their full potential.”

Cheryl Ward, Managing Director of Kier Construction Southern, said: “This project sees Kier continue to transform education estates across the South Coast. Our work on this project will ensure that the students and staff of King’s Academy Bay House have the facilities needed to deliver on their vision of a ‘happy, successful and safe,’ school community.”
