Go ahead for London Bridge life sciences hub
Southwark Council has approved plans for Snowsfields Quarter, a £350 million life sciences hub set to be built adjacent to London Bridge railway station.
The project is a joint venture between Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, Oxford Properties, and Reef + Partners. It will deliver approximately 109,728m2 of multi-functional space across three new buildings, including 74,676m2 of specialist laboratories designed for research in medical technology, genetics, and neuroscience.
Laurie Lee, Chief Executive of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, said: “Snowsfields Quarter builds on the Foundation’s long history of investing in health in Southwark.
“The development will contribute to the growth and success of the wider life sciences district, while helping to inspire and equip the next generation of scientists and health professionals.”
Snowsfields Quarter will target some of the highest sustainability standards in the UK, aiming for BREEAM ‘Outstanding’, WELL Platinum, and net zero carbon in operation. During construction, 95% of waste will be diverted from landfill, reflecting the partners’ commitment to environmental responsibility.
The scheme will include exhibition and training spaces, health and wellbeing amenities, and facilities designed to benefit the local community. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
