Excellent logistics boost for Wolverhampton

Work has begun on converting a former brownfield site in Bilston, Wolverhampton, into a new 15-acre logistics park.

Known as Foundry Business Park, the scheme is being developed by Goold Estates, which has appointed Caddick Construction as the main contractor.

Aiming to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, the park will comprise 15 industrial units ranging in size from 762m2 to 19,200m2.

The development is being supported by a £12.5 million investment from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) as part of its programme to transform urban brownfield sites into homes, jobs and commercial spaces, in a bid to drive economic growth across the region.

Dominic Goold, Managing Director of Goold Estates, said: “This brownfield site has a complex industrial legacy, including coal mining and steel making, which meant it remained vacant for over 20 years. Progressing the site’s development required extensive consultation, so reaching the construction phase is a significant step forward.”

Councillor Stephen Simkins, City of Wolverhampton Council Leader, said: “The new industrial and distribution units being developed at Foundry Business Park will deliver hundreds of jobs for our residents.

“With further investment on site, and in the pipeline for the town, the future is bright for Bilston as we deliver the platform for businesses to grow and thrive – in turn providing opportunities for local people.”

The first units at Foundry Business Park are expected to be ready in early 2026.
