Construction work starts on Star Radcliffe Academy

Posted on by in Weekly News

Morgan Sindall Construction has started work on Star Radcliffe Academy, a five-form entry, 750 place, 11-16 secondary school.

The Greater Manchester school opened in September 2024 and has been operating from temporary facilities.

The permanent school building is due to be complete in time for the start of the September 2026 term.

The new building will be a three-storey, 6,000m2 structure, described as a ‘superblock’ with extensive external works and sports provision.

In a bid to support the UK’s net zero goals, the school will feature renewable energy generation, low-carbon technologies, and a stormwater management system constructed of 100% recycled materials.

Councillor Lucy Smith, Deputy Leader of Bury Council and Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “We are pleased to celebrate the start of construction on the new Star Radcliffe Academy building. This is a key part of the ongoing multi-million-pound regeneration of Radcliffe and will contribute significantly to the area.

“The academy has already proved a popular choice among local families and will provide much-needed high school places with excellent facilities, giving our young people the opportunity to thrive.”
