Steelwork contractors for buildings
Membership of BCSA is open to any Steelwork Contractor who has a fabrication facility within the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.

Applicants may be registered in one or more Buildings category to undertake the fabrication and the responsibility for any
design and erection of:

(1) Contracts which are primarily
steelwork but which may include
associated works. The steelwork contract
value for which a company is pre-qualified
under the Scheme is intended to give
guidance on the size of steelwork contract
that can be undertaken; where a project
lasts longer than a year, the value is the
proportion of the steelwork contract to be
undertaken within a 12 month period.
Where an asterisk (*) appears against any
company’s classification number, this indicates
that the assets required for this classification
level are those of the parent company.
C Heavy industrial platework for plant structures, bunkers,
hoppers, silos etc
D High rise buildings (offices etc over 15 storeys)
E Large span portals (over 30m)
F Medium/small span portals (up to 30m) and low rise
buildings (up to 4 storeys)
G Medium rise buildings (from 5 to 15 storeys)
H Large span trusswork (over 20m)
J Tubular steelwork where tubular construction forms a major
part of the structure
K Towers and masts
L Architectural steelwork for staircases, balconies, canopies etc
M Frames for machinery, supports for plant and conveyors
N Large grandstands and stadia (over 5000 persons)
Q Specialist fabrication services (eg bending, cellular/
castellated beams, plate girders)
R Refurbishment
S Lighter fabrications including fire escapes, ladders and
catwalks
FPC Factory Production Control certification to BS EN 1090-1
1 – Execution Class 1 2 – Execution Class 2
3 – Execution Class 3 4 – Execution Class 4
BIM BIM Level 2 assessed
QM Quality management certification to ISO 9001
