{"id":44811,"date":"2026-02-11T15:56:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T15:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=44811"},"modified":"2026-02-11T15:56:34","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T15:56:34","slug":"bridge-steelwork-completed-for-enfield-regeneration-scheme-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/bridge-steelwork-completed-for-enfield-regeneration-scheme-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridge steelwork completed for Enfield regeneration scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/n3.1-Meridian-Water-1-2602.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/n3.1-Meridian-Water-1-2602.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44812\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/n3.1-Meridian-Water-1-2602.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/n3.1-Meridian-Water-1-2602-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Working on behalf of Taylor Woodrow Infrastructure, Tubecon (part of Billington Structures) has installed the steelwork for the B1 <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Bridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">road bridge<\/a> within the Meridian Water regeneration scheme in Enfield, North London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spanning the River Lea canal and <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Fabrication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fabricated<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Weathering_steel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">weathering steel<\/a>, which will resist <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Corrosion_protection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corrosion<\/a>, the bridge is the longest within the development.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It consists of four 38m-long trough <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Bridges#Beam_bridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">beams<\/a>; the two outer beams, which include a decorative fascia, are 4.2m-wide, while the two internal beams measure 2.8m-wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a 1,000t-capacity mobile <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Design_for_steel_bridge_construction#Erection_using_cranes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crane<\/a>, the beams were individually lifted into place before being temporarily braced together with cross members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comprising a steel tonnage of 225t, the bridge steelwork supports the permanent formwork and in situ-poured concrete deck.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ambitious \u00a36 billion Meridian Water regeneration initiative aims to create 10,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Housing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new homes<\/a> and generate hundreds of permanent jobs for local residents.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located adjacent to the Lee Valley Regional Park, the development is being designed with nature and biodiversity in mind.
