Fabricating<\/a>, assembling and commissioning a number of key components, Severfield has secured a contract with \u00d8rsted for its Hornsea 3 project, which is said to be the world\u2019s largest offshore wind farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located 120km off the east of England, Hornsea 3 is set to deliver 2.9 GW of green energy – enough to power over 3 million UK homes. As part of the UK government’s strategy to meet climate and clean energy targets, the project will play a crucial role in enhancing UK energy security and once completed it will have up to 231 offshore wind turbines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working alongside strategic key contractor, Hutchinson Engineering, Severfield will manufacture<\/a> boat landings and ladders, anode cages, and supported internal platforms (SIPs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To manage production, the company is setting up a bespoke, temporary final assembly facility in Teesside. This will be used for the final assembly, electrical fit-out, and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the SIPs before they are stored and shipped offshore for installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
