{"id":41596,"date":"2024-10-30T12:55:23","date_gmt":"2024-10-30T12:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=41596"},"modified":"2024-10-30T12:55:25","modified_gmt":"2024-10-30T12:55:25","slug":"new-sustainable-home-for-oxfordshire-county-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/new-sustainable-home-for-oxfordshire-county-council\/","title":{"rendered":"New sustainable home for Oxfordshire County Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Oxfordshire241031.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Oxfordshire241031.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41597\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Oxfordshire241031.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Oxfordshire241031-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Oxfordshire County Council has appointed Willmott Dixon to deliver its new sustainable headquarters building at Speedwell House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The council is relocating from its current premises at County Hall in Oxford to a new four-storey home at Speedwell House, which is being extensively redevelop to create a 5,200m<sup>2<\/sup> net zero in operation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Multi-storey_office_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">office<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company has been procured through the National Procure Partnerships framework for the project after the county council\u2019s cabinet agreed in January 2024 to move its headquarters in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It allows the council to move into modern accommodation, which in turn will enable its former home at County Hall to be re-imagined by a new owner as part of the regeneration of the city centre of Oxford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Liz Leffman, Leader of Oxfordshire County Council, said: \u201cWe believe that our decisions at County Hall and Speedwell House will improve the delivery of services and will help with the physical, social and economic regeneration of Oxford. We will use the move to stimulate this ambitious thinking for the city and the county as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Dan Levy, Oxfordshire County Council\u2019s Cabinet Member for Finance, added: &#8220;This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us not only to create a modern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Sustainability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">carbon-neutral<\/a> office and a welcoming and comfortable space for our employees, councillors and residents, but also to help transform this part of the city and better support those using the area.
