{"id":40807,"date":"2024-07-03T11:07:10","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T11:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=40807"},"modified":"2024-07-03T11:07:43","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T11:07:43","slug":"contractor-signs-in-for-bridgend-college-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/contractor-signs-in-for-bridgend-college-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"Contractor signs in for Bridgend College campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Bridgend240704.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Bridgend240704.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-40808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Bridgend240704.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Bridgend240704-300x135.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Willmott Dixon has been chosen by Bridgend <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Education_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College<\/a> for the \u00a360M project, to build its new Town Centre Campus development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The College is relocating from its current base at Cowbridge Road Campus to a site previously occupied by the former Police Station and a multi-storey car park at Cheapside, in the heart of Bridgend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new 13,000m\u00b2 development, which Willmott Dixon was procured to build under the SEWSCAP 3 framework, will target being net zero in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Operational_carbon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">operation<\/a> when it is completed in the summer of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Willmott Dixon is teaming up with Rio Architects on the new campus that will provide teaching and learning facilities for a wide range of courses for post-16-year old education in Bridgend. Encompassing two new buildings, it includes a 200-seat theatre, hair and beauty salons, recording and dance studios, design workshops and flexible meeting spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neal Stephens, Managing Director for Willmott Dixon in Wales, said: \u201cWe are delighted to be chosen for this transformational project in Bridgend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur focus will be on supporting the \u2018local pound\u2019 by using regional supply chain partners where possible and working with students at Bridgend College to support their own learning journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The redevelopment is partly funded by the Welsh Government\u2019s Sustainable Communities for Learning programme and will play a key role in the regeneration of Bridgend town centre, supporting local businesses and utilising public transport links into the town.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Willmott Dixon has been chosen by Bridgend College for the \u00a360M project, to build its new Town Centre Campus development.
