Steelwork contractor Elland Steel brought the truss to site in sections, assembling it on the ground, prior to the lift which took approximately 10 hours to complete.<\/p>\n<p>The multi-million pound PFI scheme will create a state-of-the-art leisure, health, learning and information complex spread across two sites. Facilities also include a learning pool with a moveable floor, a fitness centre, open plan offices, three libraries and a \u2018one-stop shop\u2019 for health, social care, council services and community associations.<\/p>\n<p>Working on behalf of main contractor Morgan Ashurst, Elland Steel will eventually erect 2,500t of structural steelwork for the project\u2019s two sites.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 1,000t capacity crane lifts a 40m-long truss into place on the Wigan Life Centre project, a scheme which will ultimately bring much needed employment and investment into the town.
