This follows the company\u2019s application to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council in December to build a similar EAF at its Teesside Beam Mill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>British Steel said the applications are central to its plans to transform the company into a clean, green and sustainable business by adopting EAF steelmaking at both sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A company spokesperson, said: \u201cEAF technology is the only solution to significantly reducing our carbon emissions in a relatively short period of time. It is prudent to evaluate different operational scenarios to help us achieve our goals and we are continuing to assess our options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHowever, we firmly believe electrification will provide a rapid and sustainable solution to our decarbonisation challenge.
