{"id":39633,"date":"2024-02-06T15:45:13","date_gmt":"2024-02-06T15:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=39633"},"modified":"2024-02-06T15:45:14","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T15:45:14","slug":"steelwork-increases-its-structural-frames-market-share-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/steelwork-increases-its-structural-frames-market-share-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Steelwork increases its structural frames market share"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/n1.1-Market-Shares-2402.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/n1.1-Market-Shares-2402.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39634\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Market Shares &#8211; Total Multi-Storey Non-Domestic Building Market, Great Britain 1980 to 2023<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Steelwork continues to be the UK\u2019s structural framing material of choice for a number of key construction sectors, according to the latest survey from independent market research consultants Construction Markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2023 survey, commissioned by Steel for Life and the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA), is the latest in a series going back to 1980 and is thought to be the biggest of its type in the UK, involving over 750 interviews with construction specifiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The overall structural frames market in the UK for 2023 was down 8.8% from the previous year, but steelwork\u2019s overall market share was 48.6%, the biggest share of any material and up from 45.4% in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steelwork has traditionally dominated the <a href=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Single_storey_industrial_buildings\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/steelconstruction.info\/Single_storey_industrial_buildings\">single storey<\/a> non-domestic building market (sheds) and in 2023 it had a 94.6% market share, compared to 94.2% in 2022. Year on year, the sector, which accounts for almost 50% of the overall structural steelwork market by tonnage, was 12,158,000m2, down by 2.6% from 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Cost_planning_-_Multi-storey_offices#Steel_and_Multi-storey_construction\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Cost_planning_-_Multi-storey_offices#Steel_and_Multi-storey_construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">multi-storey non-domestic<\/a> sector, steelwork\u2019s share for 2023 was up from 65.9% in 2022 to 66.4%.
