It is 25m-wide and carries seven lanes of traffic over its 22 spans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The strengthening of the viaduct\u2019s superstructure is being achieved with the addition of steel plates, secured in position using a combination of welded and bolted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Simple_connections\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Simple_connections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">connections<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to strengthening, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Standard_corrosion_protection_systems_for_buildings\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Standard_corrosion_protection_systems_for_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anti-corrosion<\/a> paint is being applied to the structure, alongside other refurbishment works to help preserve the viaduct\u2019s longevity and minimise the need for future maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to minimise disruption, the viaduct will remain open throughout the works, which are due to complete in early 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Working on behalf of VolkerFitzpatrick, Taziker Industrial is undertaking steelwork strengthening works on the 620m-long Tame Valley Viaduct in Birmingham.
