{"id":34817,"date":"2022-01-26T11:20:51","date_gmt":"2022-01-26T11:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=34817"},"modified":"2022-01-26T11:20:59","modified_gmt":"2022-01-26T11:20:59","slug":"work-set-to-start-on-luton-hospital-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/work-set-to-start-on-luton-hospital-expansion\/","title":{"rendered":"Work set to start on Luton Hospital expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Luton220127.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Luton220127.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34818\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Luton220127.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Luton220127-300x187.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Kier has been selected by Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">design<\/a> and construct major new 16,700m<sup>2<\/sup> clinical buildings at Luton &amp; Dunstable (L&amp;D) University Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Procured through the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) framework, this project will improve maternity, neonatal, theatres and critical care services, providing new high-tech facilities which will improve staff and patient experience and clinical outcomes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project includes the design and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">construction<\/a> of a new acute services block and a new ward block, which will house a delivery suite, the midwifery-led birthing unit, a neonatal intensive care unit with parent accommodation, an ambulatory surgical unit to support day case surgery, theatre suites and a critical care unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new five-storey link building will house three passenger lifts and will blend the new acute services and ward block with the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Healthcare_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liam Cummins, Group Managing Director at Kier Construction, said: \u201cThis is a key appointment through the Government\u2019s CCS framework and is one of the 20 projects that the Government announced in August 2019 to receive \u00a3850M additional capital funding investment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project will start on site in February and is due for completion in 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kier has been selected by Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to design and construct major new 16,700m2 clinical buildings at Luton &amp; Dunstable (L&amp;D) University Hospital.
