Structural steelwork is nearing completion on the fourth of five residential blocks<\/a> <\/a>at One Baltic Square in Liverpool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working on behalf of main contractor Legacie Contracts, EvadX is fabricating<\/a>, suppling and erecting<\/a> the steelwork for the scheme\u2019s first four buildings (approximately 900t), with the fifth (270t) due to start on site during February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steelwork also forms a podium<\/a> that covers the entire site\u2019s footprint measuring 80m x 70m. It forms the project\u2019s lower ground floor and accommodates a car park<\/a>, while also supporting each individual block and a landscaped public realm at upper ground level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set in the middle of the Baltic Triangle area of Liverpool, the scheme will on completion provide 296 one and two-bedroom apartments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clancy Consulting Structural Engineer Anthony McManus said: \u201cSteel was chosen as the preferential structural framing solution for this project due to its flexibility<\/a>, lower overall weight and its ability to accommodate complex transfer arrangements at ground level where the residential building column grid<\/a>\u00a0sits over the basement car park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building A is six-storey building with a resident\u2019s roof terrace positioned at first floor level. Buildings B, C and D are similar buildings with the first two rising to seven-storeys and the latter topping out at five-storeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
