{"id":34401,"date":"2021-11-11T11:20:58","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T11:20:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=34401"},"modified":"2021-11-11T11:21:04","modified_gmt":"2021-11-11T11:21:04","slug":"fabrication-underway-for-essex-new-town-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/fabrication-underway-for-essex-new-town-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Fabrication underway for Essex new town bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/nEssex2111.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/nEssex2111.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/nEssex2111.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/nEssex2111-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Steel beams up to 3m-deep and 48m-long are being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_for_steel_bridge_construction#Fabricating_the_steelwork\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fabricated<\/a> by Briton Fabricators for the Beaulieu Bridge in Essex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forming an integral part of the Beaulieu Park housing development near Chelmsford, which will eventually have its own railway station, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Bridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bridge<\/a> will span the Great Eastern Railway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working on behalf of Graham Construction, Briton Fabricators will eventually fabricate, supply and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_for_steel_bridge_construction#Bridge_erection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">erect<\/a> 891t of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Weathering_steel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">weathering steel <\/a>for the 171m-long bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The beams will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_for_steel_bridge_construction#Transportation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">transported<\/a> to site in braced pairs weighing up to 132t. They will be delivered to a temporary yard close to the bridge\u2019s final position, where the entire structure, including its concrete deck, will be assembled before being manoeuvred into place by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_for_steel_bridge_construction#Specialist_transport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">self-propelled modular transporters<\/a> (SPMTs) next Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bridge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Plan_curvature_in_bridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">curves on plan<\/a>, is four beams wide and will be supported on two intermediate piers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steel beams up to 3m-deep and 48m-long are being fabricated by Briton Fabricators for the Beaulieu Bridge in Essex.
