{"id":34046,"date":"2021-10-06T10:58:02","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T10:58:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=34046"},"modified":"2021-10-06T10:58:09","modified_gmt":"2021-10-06T10:58:09","slug":"steelwork-progressing-on-north-london-waste-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/steelwork-progressing-on-north-london-waste-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Steelwork progressing on north London waste centre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EcoPark211007.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"402\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EcoPark211007.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34047\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EcoPark211007.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/EcoPark211007-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>North London Waste Authority\u2019s new sustainable waste management hub, known as Edmonton EcoPark, is progressing on schedule as the steel frames take shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working on behalf of main contractor Taylor Woodrow, Caunton Engineering is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Fabrication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fabricating<\/a>, supplying and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction#Steel_erection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">erecting<\/a> 1,963t of steelwork for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial and current phase of works includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">construction<\/a> of a Resource Recovery Facility (RRF), which will be one of the largest publicly-owned facilities of its kind in London, with the capacity to manage 135,000 tonnes of recyclable material every year, as well as the first ever public Reuse and Recycling Centre (RRC) at the site. These large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Single_storey_industrial_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">steel-framed buildings<\/a><a> <\/a>will receive waste, segregate it and prepare it into fuel for the waste-to-energy plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, these buildings will feed the existing energy-from-waste facility, until the new plant comes online later in the decade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Phase one of the works also includes a third steel-framed building known as EcoPark House. With a footprint of 40m x 20m, this two-storey structure will house a visitor and education centre, where the local community can learn about waste reduction and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Recycling_and_reuse#Recycling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recycling<\/a>, as well as a new home for the Edmonton Sea Cadets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accounting for nearly three-quarters of the project\u2019s overall steel tonnage, the RRF building is 160m-long and formed with a series of seven long-span <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Trusses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trusses<\/a>, up to 76m-long that primarily create the column-free processing area of the building and support the saw-tooth roof.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>North London Waste Authority\u2019s new sustainable waste management hub, known as Edmonton EcoPark, is progressing on schedule as the steel frames take shape.
