Proposals also include new retail zones, residential and commercial space, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Car_parks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">car-parking<\/a>&nbsp;facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The club plans to submit a planning application for the new development to the local council this autumn, after its consultation with the public is completed at the start of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The increased capacity will be realised with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">construction<\/a>&nbsp;of a new and bigger East Stand, which will feature an illuminated diagrid roof structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plans involve building the new stand while the rest of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leisure_buildings#Stadia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stadium<\/a> remains operational, thereby minimising any disruption to spectators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year the club opened a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leicester_City_Football_Club_Training_Centre\" target=\"_blank\">new training ground<\/a><a> <\/a>in Charnwood, Leicestershire, that was delivered by McLaren. This state-of-the-art facility is on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Structural_steel_design_awards#Structural_steel_design_awards_2021_-_Shortlist\" target=\"_blank\">shortlist<\/a><a> <\/a>for this year\u2019s Structural Steel Design Awards (SSDA), with the winners announced in late September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subject to planning permission being granted, the club hopes construction work will start before the end of the 2022-23 season.
