{"id":33302,"date":"2021-06-08T23:40:41","date_gmt":"2021-06-08T23:40:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=33302"},"modified":"2021-06-08T23:40:45","modified_gmt":"2021-06-08T23:40:45","slug":"steelwork-up-for-great-yarmouth-leisure-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/steelwork-up-for-great-yarmouth-leisure-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Steelwork up for Great Yarmouth leisure centre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great-Yarmouth210610-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great-Yarmouth210610-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great-Yarmouth210610-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Great-Yarmouth210610-1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Steelwork erection is nearing completion on a \u00a326M <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leisure_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leisure and sports facility<\/a> in the East Anglian seaside resort of Great Yarmouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working on behalf of main contractor Morgan Sindall, H Young Structures is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction#Steel_erection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">erecting<\/a> 500t of steelwork for the Marine Place Leisure Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Council, the centre will act as a catalyst for further investment as well as being an important community and tourist hub for the promotion of both indoor and outdoor activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is funded by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, plus \u00a32.5M secured from the Government\u2019s Getting Building Fund, via New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, \u00a31.6M from Sport England, and a further \u00a3500,000 from Pooled Business Rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on the use of a steel framing solution for project, Morgan Sindall Senior Contracts Manager John Stedman says: \u201cSteel is the only way to go for this kind of project, primarily because the material can economically form the required <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leisure_buildings#Ability_to_span_long_distances\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">long spans<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The centre is divided into wet and dry zones, both of which contain long-span areas. The wet zone will include a six-lane 25m-long pool with full disabled access, which is suitable for galas and competitions, and has seating for 120 spectators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will also be a confidence water area and learner pool with moveable floor, as well as a leisure water hall with fun play features, two water flumes and a splash pad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dry area will include a 100-station health and fitness gym and a four-court sports hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Marine Place Leisure Centre is scheduled to open in summer 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Steelwork erection is nearing completion on a \u00a326M leisure and sports facility in the East Anglian seaside resort of Great Yarmouth.
