{"id":33016,"date":"2021-04-21T10:04:09","date_gmt":"2021-04-21T10:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=33016"},"modified":"2021-04-21T10:04:13","modified_gmt":"2021-04-21T10:04:13","slug":"tata-steel-to-upgrade-its-corby-steel-tube-manufacturing-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/tata-steel-to-upgrade-its-corby-steel-tube-manufacturing-site\/","title":{"rendered":"Tata Steel to upgrade its Corby steel tube manufacturing site"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Tata210421.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Tata210421.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33017\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Tata210421.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Tata210421-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Tata Steel has announced a major overhaul of its Corby steel tube making site in the East Midlands, which it said will give the business the best chance of a strong future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manufacturing processes on the site will be brought closer together as part of the \u00a325M scheme, which is being paid for in part with the sale of land freed up by the changes as well as savings from operational improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-year investment project will see the creation of a single high-tech warehouse, the relocation and upgrading of the important <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Steel_construction_products#Structural_hollow_sections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rectangular hollow section<\/a><a> <\/a>(RHS) processing line and the cold mill (CFM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman of Tata Steel UK, Sandip Biswas, said: \u201cSteel is, and will continue to be, an essential part of the UK\u2019s plans to decarbonise for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe need to ensure we are able to make and supply the products right here in the UK which will help transition to a net-zero future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tata Steel Corby Works Manager, Gary Blackman, said: \u201cThe programme is essential to ensuring a sustainable future for our site and generations of steel workers to come.
