{"id":30814,"date":"2020-06-10T16:31:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T16:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=30814"},"modified":"2020-06-10T16:31:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T16:31:00","slug":"go-ahead-given-for-west-midlands-rail-hub-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/go-ahead-given-for-west-midlands-rail-hub-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Go ahead given for West Midlands rail hub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/nMidlands-hub2006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30788\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/nMidlands-hub2006.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/nMidlands-hub2006.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/nMidlands-hub2006-300x126.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>The government has given the green light for the construction of a new rail freight hub on land adjacent to the M6 motorway in Staffordshire.<\/p>\n<p>Known as the West Midlands Strategic Rail Freight Interchange it will link to the motorway and the West Coast Mainline.<\/p>\n<p>The hub is set to be built near the village of Gailey and will allow for the transfer of goods between lorries and trains and requires the creation of a freight terminal, container storage, heavy goods vehicle parking, rail-served<a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Retail_buildings#Distribution_warehouses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> warehouses<\/a> and ancillary buildings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Construction<\/a> is expected to start in 2021 and is currently expected to be phased over 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary works will include new roads, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Bridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bridges<\/a> and drainage infrastructure, extensive earthworks, landscaping and utilities works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government has given the green light for the construction of a new rail freight hub on land adjacent to the M6 motorway in Staffordshire.
