{"id":29744,"date":"2019-12-04T11:10:55","date_gmt":"2019-12-04T11:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=29744"},"modified":"2019-12-04T11:10:55","modified_gmt":"2019-12-04T11:10:55","slug":"oxford-approves-college-mixed-use-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/oxford-approves-college-mixed-use-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Oxford approves college mixed-use scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29745\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Oxon191205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Oxon191205.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Oxon191205-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Oxford City Council has approved the planning application submitted by Thomas White Oxford, the development company of St John\u2019s College,\u00a0for its Oxford North mixed-use scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Oxford North will be a new innovation district for Oxford with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Sustainability\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sustainability<\/a> at its heart providing: 4,500 new jobs, 480 new housing for circa 1,500 people, of which 168 will be affordable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Hotels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">homes<\/a>, small shops, bars and restaurants, an hotel and around 23 acres of open spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas White Oxford Director William Donger said:\u00a0<strong>\u201c<\/strong>We have reached a milestone in Oxford North\u2019s project which has been nearly 10 years in the making dating back to the early draft stages of the Core Strategy, adopted in 2012, and the Northern Gateway Area Action Plan, adopted in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe this project will be a truly transformational and positive addition to one of the world\u2019s greatest cities. It will deliver high-quality workspace for start-ups such as high-tech university spin-outs and businesses, much-needed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Housing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">housing<\/a> including 168 affordable homes, investment in infrastructure for all forms of transport, new green spaces and a new sustainable community for Oxford in which we can all be proud. This project will help the City Council to secure the \u00a315.9 million government infrastructure funding.
