{"id":28351,"date":"2019-04-17T11:49:23","date_gmt":"2019-04-17T11:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=28351"},"modified":"2019-04-17T11:49:23","modified_gmt":"2019-04-17T11:49:23","slug":"liverpools-isle-of-man-ferry-terminal-receives-planning-consent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/liverpools-isle-of-man-ferry-terminal-receives-planning-consent\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool\u2019s Isle of Man ferry terminal receives planning consent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IoM190418.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-28346\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IoM190418.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IoM190418.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IoM190418-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>John Sisk &amp; Sons will start <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">construction<\/a> of the Isle of Man (IOM) Ferry Terminal in Liverpool in the summer after plans were approved.<\/p>\n<p>The terminal will be constructed at Princes Half-Tide Dock, nearly 700m downriver of the current Pier Head facility.<\/p>\n<p>Designs by architect The Manser Practice\u00a0include a riverside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_of_steel_footbridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">footbridge<\/a>, which will link the terminal to a proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Hotels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hotel<\/a>, set to be built to serve both the Isle of Man terminal and the nearby cruise liner terminal.<\/p>\n<p>IOM Chief Minister Howard Quayle said: \u201cGaining planning consent is brilliant news, and the next step in delivering this vital project.<\/p>\n<p>The need to secure such a strategically important asset was acknowledged in our Programme for Government and we now look forward to seeing the island\u2019s new terminal take shape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new terminal is scheduled to open in late 2020. It will sit within developer Peel\u2019s \u00a35bn Liverpool Waters regeneration scheme, which is transforming 60 hectares of the city\u2019s north docks.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool, said: \u201cThe new terminal is a critical piece in our regeneration plans for the north shore of Liverpool.
