{"id":27148,"date":"2018-10-10T09:16:35","date_gmt":"2018-10-10T09:16:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=27148"},"modified":"2018-10-10T09:58:30","modified_gmt":"2018-10-10T09:58:30","slug":"first-students-welcomed-to-steel-framed-coventry-city-centre-accommodation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/first-students-welcomed-to-steel-framed-coventry-city-centre-accommodation\/","title":{"rendered":"First students welcomed to steel-framed Coventry city centre accommodation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27141\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Coventry181011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Coventry181011.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Coventry181011-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Coventry City Council, main contractor Winvic Construction and luxury accommodation providers\u00a0CODE Student Accommodation have officially marked the completion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Braced_frames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">steel frame<\/a> of the city\u2019s new tallest building.<\/p>\n<p>At an event, they celebrated the handover of the first 315 bedrooms, gym, laundry and office facilities accommodated in one of the project&#8217;s four blocks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Winvic team has proved time and again that they are more than capable of going above and beyond, and we are happy to be able to say we were a key player in Winvic\u2019s growth in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Student_residences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">student accommodation<\/a> sector,\u201d said CODE Director Jamie Lewis.<\/p>\n<p>The delivered phase of the project comprises one 14-storey block and, when completed, there will be four interlocked blocks, of 17, 20 and 23 storeys, making it Coventry\u2019s tallest building with panoramic views across the City.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the self-contained student bedrooms will contain a fully fitted kitchen, including fridge, freezer, microwave and integrated oven and hob, and a deluxe designer shower room; tenants will also feel safe in their new homes with the fob entrance system and the installation of CCTV.<\/p>\n<p>A further 877 beds, totaling 1,192, a gym, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leisure_buildings#Theatres_and_auditoria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cinema<\/a>, open-plan communal spaces, landscaped rooftop terrace and three ground floor retail units will be handed over by August 2019, ready for a full house in the next academic year.<\/p>\n<p>Caunton Engineering has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Fabrication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fabricated<\/a>, supplied and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction#Steel_erection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">erected<\/a> 1,800t of steel for the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coventry City Council, main contractor Winvic Construction and luxury accommodation providers\u00a0CODE Student Accommodation have officially marked the completion of the steel frame of the city\u2019s new tallest building.
