{"id":26932,"date":"2018-09-12T09:15:35","date_gmt":"2018-09-12T09:15:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=26932"},"modified":"2018-09-12T09:15:35","modified_gmt":"2018-09-12T09:15:35","slug":"steel-bridge-for-hull-waterfront-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/steel-bridge-for-hull-waterfront-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Steel bridge for Hull waterfront development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26926\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hull180913.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hull180913.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hull180913-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Main contractor Interserve has been appointed to carry out work on a new steel composite bridge and associated roadworks on Hull\u2019s city centre waterfront.<\/p>\n<p>The new Princes Quay Bridge and work at Roger Millward Way roundabout will improve access and make it easier for pedestrians, cyclists and disabled users to cross the A63.<\/p>\n<p>At Roger Millward Way, an extra lane will be added through the middle of the roundabout and additional traffic signals will help to reduce congestion and smooth the flow of traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Highways England Senior Project Manager James Leeming said: \u201cIt\u2019s great news that we\u2019ll be starting work on these two key schemes in October. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_of_steel_footbridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">steel bridge<\/a> has been designed to allow further development around the waterfront and is an important part of Hull\u2019s plans for the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re carrying out these schemes together under one contractor to minimise disruption and to make the best use of the funds available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bridge is being part-funded with a \u00a34M contribution awarded to Hull City Council by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership.<\/p>\n<p>It will reunite the Marina with the city centre by connecting the heart of the city to its thriving waterfront, and is a critical element of our long-term regeneration plans.<\/p>\n<p>The single-span bridge is expected to be finished by early 2020 and work on Roger Millward Way is expected to take around nine months to complete.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Main contractor Interserve has been appointed to carry out work on a new steel composite bridge and associated roadworks on Hull\u2019s city centre waterfront.
