{"id":25826,"date":"2018-03-07T21:50:57","date_gmt":"2018-03-07T21:50:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=25826"},"modified":"2018-03-07T21:50:57","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T21:50:57","slug":"steel-up-for-north-wales-water-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/steel-up-for-north-wales-water-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Steel up for North Wales water park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25814\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/nWaterPark1803.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/nWaterPark1803.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/nWaterPark1803-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Working on behalf of main contractor ISG, EvadX has completed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction#Steel_erection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">steel erection<\/a> for the Rhyl water park.<\/p>\n<p>Housed within a double wedged-shaped structure, topped with a wave-like roof, the contract will deliver a 1,200m\u00b2 leisure pool with flumes, slides and water play features, an adventure area containing a multi-level adventure area, a changing village and a caf\u00e9 and bar area.<\/p>\n<p>One large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Braced_frames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">steel frame<\/a> houses the entire facility with a line of columns and a partition wall running down the middle, separating the wet zone (aquatics area) from the dry area.<\/p>\n<p>Each of these zones is housed within a large <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leisure_buildings#Ability_to_span_long_distances\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">column-free<\/a> hall topped with a wave-like roof, with each one sloping in the opposite direction to the other.<\/p>\n<p>As well as being a nod to the water park\u2019s location, the wave-like roofs and, in particular, the wedge-shapes have been chosen for their efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>According to the project architect, Space &amp; Place, the two wedge shapes provide optimum volumetric arrangements offering better views through to the seafront, reducing the overall visual mass of the building and creating a more interesting architectural form.<\/p>\n<p>Alliance Leisure Senior Business Development Manager Julia Goddard said: \u201cThe development in Rhyl will completely transform the town\u2019s leisure provision, creating a stand-out attraction which will draw an estimated 35,000 extra visitors to the area each year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCreating sustainable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leisure_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leisure facilities<\/a> which inspire community engagement is always our ambition and this latest development project will certainly achieve this.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Working on behalf of main contractor ISG, EvadX has completed the steel erection for the Rhyl water park.
