{"id":25630,"date":"2018-02-07T12:57:22","date_gmt":"2018-02-07T12:57:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=25630"},"modified":"2018-02-07T15:13:17","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T15:13:17","slug":"work-to-start-imminently-on-80m-steel-framed-rochdale-regeneration-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/work-to-start-imminently-on-80m-steel-framed-rochdale-regeneration-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Work to start imminently on \u00a380M steel-framed Rochdale regeneration scheme."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25622\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Rochdale180208.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Rochdale180208.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Rochdale180208-300x117.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Willmott Dixon has won the contract from Genr8 Developments to build a new \u00a380M <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Braced_frames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">steel-framed<\/a> retail and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Leisure_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">leisure scheme<\/a> in Rochdale.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction<\/a> work is expected to start on Rochdale Riverside by the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>Delivered by a joint venture between Genr8 and Kajima in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council, the development will contain 18,500m\u00b2 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Retail_buildings\">retail<\/a> and leisure accommodation in the centre of the town.<\/p>\n<p>Willmott Dixon said contracts for work packages connected to the build, including groundwork, steelwork, roofing and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Building_envelopes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cladding<\/a> will be awarded in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>Genr8 Developments Partner Mike Smith said: \u201cWe are very pleased to announce Willmott Dixon as lead contractor and look forward to seeing work commence on-site later this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe scheme is now over 60% let and with works commencing on-site we expect to be able to announce further lettings soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is\u00a0estimated that 250 construction operatives could be working on the site at peak times while around 80 different companies are likely to be subcontracted to help deliver the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Willmott Dixon Managing Director in the North West Anthony Dillon, said: \u201cAs a locally-based company, we are delighted to have been appointed for this flagship project which will be a fantastic new addition for the town as well as a catalyst to encourage new inward investment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll also support the local economy by using businesses from the area whenever possible during the build programme; we want to leave a lasting legacy that all can be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Willmott Dixon has won the contract from Genr8 Developments to build a new \u00a380M steel-framed retail and leisure scheme in Rochdale.
