{"id":25267,"date":"2017-11-08T15:50:11","date_gmt":"2017-11-08T15:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=25267"},"modified":"2017-11-08T18:36:24","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T18:36:24","slug":"award-winning-tower-highlights-town-centre-regeneration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/award-winning-tower-highlights-town-centre-regeneration\/","title":{"rendered":"Award-winning tower highlights town centre regeneration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25261\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/ThamesTower171109.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/ThamesTower171109.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/ThamesTower171109-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Forming part of Reading town centre\u2019s regeneration scheme,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Thames_Tower_Redevelopment,_Reading\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thames Tower<\/a> is now complete and providing a highly visible landmark overlooking the main railway station.<\/p>\n<p>Previously described as a dated 1970s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Multi-storey_office_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">office block<\/a>, the building has been refurbished into one of the most desirable office locations in the Thames Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Externally the building was stripped back to its original frame and re-clad in high quality terracotta, taking inspiration from the surrounding 19th century brick buildings in the town centre and a New York skyscraper.<\/p>\n<p>Four new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Braced_frames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">steel-framed<\/a> office levels have been added to the top of the building increasing the available space to 16,900m\u00b2. Each floor of the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Floor_systems#Composite_slabs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">steel floors<\/a> has generous floor-to-soffit heights of 3.7m on the 11th\u201313th floors and 4.2m on the uppermost 14th floor.<\/p>\n<p>According to project architect dn-a, exposing the steel structure on the upper floors has highlighted the contrast between the new steelwork and the old concrete Thames Tower, emphasising the rebirth of the building as a modern workspace<\/p>\n<p>On the top floor, a new rooftop lounge, terrace and garden has been added. The Roost offers a vibrant 371m\u00b2 space for occupiers to relax and enjoy the spectacular views of Reading and the Thames Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Developed by a partnership between Landid and Brockton Capital, the \u00a344M Thames Tower has attracted a number of high profile occupiers, including financial services giant HSBC, professional services firm BDO, recruitment firm Austin Fraser and natural food specialist Pret A Manger.<\/p>\n<p>Steelwork for the project was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Fabrication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fabricated<\/a>, supplied and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Construction#Steel_erection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">erected<\/a> by Shipley Structures, and the Tower won a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Structural_steel_design_awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Structural Steel Design Award<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Forming part of Reading town centre\u2019s regeneration scheme,Thames Tower is now complete and providing a highly visible landmark overlooking the main railway station.
