{"id":25069,"date":"2017-10-18T11:46:02","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T11:46:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=25069"},"modified":"2017-10-18T13:56:06","modified_gmt":"2017-10-18T13:56:06","slug":"1bn-blueprint-for-bolton-town-centre-unveiled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/1bn-blueprint-for-bolton-town-centre-unveiled\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a31bn blueprint for Bolton town centre unveiled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25070\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Bolton171019.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"329\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Bolton171019.jpg 329w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Bolton171019-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 329px) 100vw, 329px\" \/>A \u00a31bn blueprint that will shape and transform the future of Bolton town centre up to 2030 and beyond has been published.<\/p>\n<p>The master plan contains proposals to redevelop the town centre by creating 1,800 new homes, 7,400 new jobs and generating economic activity worth an additional \u00a3412M over five strategic sites.<\/p>\n<p>The areas identified are: Trinity Quarter, Cheadle Square, Crompton Place, Church Wharf and Croal Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Bolton Council announced initial details of the plan in July 2017 and the authority has since approved borrowing \u00a3100M to kick-start the project. The remainder of the plan will be funded by private sector investors.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a3100M will be used for a range of priorities including site assembly; getting sites \u2018development ready\u2019; public realm, and infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>It is hoped that work on the first phase of site clearance could start as early as Spring 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris, said: \u201cThis master plan shows how forward thinking and ambitious this council really is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now want to get to work as quickly as possible. We are already speaking to a number of developers and partners about delivering the different schemes outlined in the framework.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough it is ambitious we are confident that this is an achievable vision that identifies key areas of the town centre, and it will be a game-changer in terms of transforming the centre of Bolton.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the main proposals include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trinity Quarter \u2013 creating a mixed Grade A office and residential development. A new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Hotels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hotel<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Multi-storey_office_buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">office block<\/a> and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Car_parks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">multi-storey car park<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Cheadle Square \u2013 developing housing and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Residential_buildings_in_urban_areas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">apartments<\/a> on the former bus station site. On Queen Street, creating <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Residential_and_mixed-use_buildings#Student_residences\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">student housing<\/a> and a mixed-used development to complement cultural venues such as the Octagon,<\/li>\n<li>Crompton Place \u2013 the framework envisages transforming the empty BHS store with an upper floor food court overlooking Victoria Square, exploring the possibility to expand Primark and creating a new pedestrian access between Bradshawgate and Hotel Street.<\/li>\n<li>Church Wharf \u2013 Church Wharf would be designated a new town centre \u2018quarter\u2019 with a mix of apartments and town houses, as well as a new pedestrian route along the River Croal.<\/li>\n<li>Croal Valley\/Central Street \u2013 opening up the River Croal with an improved environment to make it a town centre feature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A \u00a31bn blueprint that will shape and transform the future of Bolton town centre up to 2030 and beyond has been published.
