The product, SIN beams, are said to combine large spans with a very low weight.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-24246\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/nSinbeam2-1706.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/nSinbeam2-1706.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/nSinbeam2-1706-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/>Having started production, KSS said it is now able to supply the beams to customers in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Dimensions, material thickness and material quality of the upper and lower flange as well as the web are precisely adapted to the customer\u2019s respective requirements.<\/p>\n<p>KSS Structural Engineer John Kiernan said: \u201cSIN beams can be used for long-span <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Portal_frames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">portal frames<\/a>, long-span roof structures \u2013 replacing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Trusses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trusses<\/a> &#8211; open-sided <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Car_parks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">multi-storey car parks<\/a>, and pedestrian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Design_of_steel_footbridges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">footbridges<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe maximum length of a manufactured beam is 16m, but the beams can be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Moment_resisting_connections#Splices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spliced<\/a> to make longer sections. An open span portal frame has been made in Austria spanning 56m.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The depth of sections varies from 350mm up to a maximum of 1,580mm, with a 400mm maximum width of flange.<\/p>\n<p>Sinusoidal corrugation of the web is standard no matter the depth or the width of the beam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Irish-based Kiernan Structural Steel (KSS) has installed a fully automated production facility for welded plate girders with sinusoidal corrugated webs.
