{"id":22861,"date":"2016-10-19T10:14:39","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T10:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/?p=22861"},"modified":"2016-10-19T10:15:36","modified_gmt":"2016-10-19T10:15:36","slug":"new-metal-decking-guides-will-aid-onsite-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/new-metal-decking-guides-will-aid-onsite-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"New metal decking guides will aid onsite safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22854\" src=\"http:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Decking161020.jpg\" alt=\"decking161020\" width=\"600\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Decking161020.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.newsteelconstruction.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Decking161020-300x163.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>The British Constructional Steelwork Association [BCSA] Metal Decking Group has developed four short guidance documents for those involved in the planning and preparation of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Steel_construction_products#Decking_for_floors\" target=\"_blank\">metal decking<\/a> installation.<\/p>\n<p>BCSA Director of Health, Safety &amp; Training Peter Walker said: \u201cThe documents will help to communicate the relevant information to main contractors which will help assist in the coordination necessary to help maintain good safety practices on-site.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The guidance documents are: <em>Loading and Positioning of Packs<\/em>; <em>System Edge Protection Installation<\/em>; <em>Propping Guide<\/em>, and <em>Concrete Pouring<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA contractor has a key role to play in cooperating with other contractors where the work could affect the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steelconstruction.info\/Health_and_safety\" target=\"_blank\">health and safety<\/a> of workers,\u201d said Mr Walker.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key areas for on-site safety is the positioning of metal decking packs onto the steel frame.
